The joint meeting attended by faction leaders and DPD groups agreed Ahmad Muzani to be Chairman of the MPR RI for the 2024-2029 period. Muzani himself is Deputy Chair of the Indonesian MPR for the 2019-2024 period and Secretary General of Gerindra.

The MPR RI joint meeting was held in the DPR Commission II meeting room, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/10/2024) from 19.30 WIB. The meeting took place behind closed doors.

“On the evening of October 2 2024, a joint meeting of MPR leadership from MPR factions, from the DPD group, chaired by the chairman of the interim session, has agreed by deliberation to reach consensus that the candidate for chairman of the MPR which has been agreed upon in this joint meeting, is the candidate proposed by “The name of the Gerindra Party faction is my friend, my colleague at the leadership of the MPR for the previous period, his name is Mr. Haji Ahmad Muzani,” said Chairman of the PDIP MPR RI Fraction, Ahmad Basarah, after the joint meeting.

Basarah continued, apart from Muzani, the leadership ranks of the MPR RI will be filled with deputy chairs who are delegates from each party faction. The total leadership of the MPR RI is 9 people, consisting of 8 faction representatives and 1 representative of the DPD RI.

“He will be accompanied by 8 deputy chairmen of the MPR who have been appointed by each political party faction in the MPR,” he said.

However, he said, the leadership of the MPR RI elements of the DPD RI had not yet been determined. It is known that the DPD RI is still holding a plenary meeting to determine the leadership until now.

“Those who are still waiting for the candidate for deputy chairman of the MPR are elements of the DPD RI group, they are still meeting tonight to determine it,” he said.
