Takeshi, who reigns as Suntory’s guardian angel and also served as the Japan Men’s Team B representative this year, is known as the youngest of the three Fujinaka brothers.
His eldest brother, who is 6 years older than him, is Kenya, who is also the captain of Suntory. His second brother, Yuto, who is three years older than him, transferred to Toray Shizuoka this season. All three are active in the SV League.
Soshi started playing volleyball when he was in the first grade of elementary school.
Due to the influence of her two older brothers and her parents, who both played volleyball, she has been going to the gym ever since she could remember, so it was a natural progression for her to start.
I was planning to continue playing volleyball in junior high school. However, since Yuto was enrolled at the local junior high school, there were few members, and multiple schools were competing in joint teams. Before enrolling, I had heard that the club might be disbanded.
I thought about leaving my hometown and going to a different junior high school. However, in the end, she said, “I went to my local junior high school with some vague hope that I would be able to play volleyball in that way (joint team).”
However, those hopes were quickly dashed, and the volleyball club was disbanded.
