A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured in an acid attack near her school in west London. Another 16-year-old boy who was with him is also in hospital with injuries. While trying to help them, the staff of the school also suffered minor injuries. The incident happened outside the school. The incident happened after school hours on Monday afternoon at Westminster Academy in Westbourne Park.
According to the Met Police, a man who came along Alfred Road attacked the children with acid and escaped. He was wearing black clothes and was traveling on an e-scooter. He attacked the children while covering his face. A 16-year-old boy who was with the girl is still in hospital with injuries. But Westminster Academy officials clarified that the injured boy is not a student of the school. Immediately after the incident, police officials and other rescue workers reached the spot.
Firefighters and hazard experts from the London Fire Brigade attended the scene and assessed the situation. The police officials said that the tests of the substance used to carry out the attack are continuing. The school was closed following the incident. Numera Anwar, principal of Westminster Academy, said that the painful incident, which took place after school hours when students and staff were leaving the school compound, was cause for concern. The police also informed that the investigation is in progress.
