On the 1st of “Sake Day” established by the Japan Sake Makers Association, Umenoyado Sake Brewery (Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture) held a “Brewery Prayer Festival” to pray for the safety of brewing.

At Umenoyado Sake Brewery, brewing began in late August this year, and on this day they were making the first batch of sake, which is the process of steaming and cooling sake rice. It is said that Japanese sake has become increasingly popular overseas in recent years, and this year they plan to stock approximately 50,000 bottles (equivalent to 1.8 liters) of sake.

At the prayer festival, Chief Priest Kazushi Takatsu of the city’s Tsukudani Masuhitokoto Neko Shrine delivered blessings, and 15 people, including president Kayo Yoshida and the brewer, offered tamagushi.

The brewery will hold a “Kura Opening” event on the 26th and 27th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. where you can enjoy new sake. A free shuttle bus will be operated from Kintetsu Shinjo Station. In addition to tasting limited edition sake, selling sake cups, and visiting the brewery, there will also be events such as a tuna butchering show and an Osaka Pro Wrestling match.
