Last minute… World Cup No. 1 in 7 years
Korean speed skating veteran Lee Seung -hoon (36, Alpensia, photo) came to the top of the World Cup in seven years.
Lee Seung -hoon passed the finish line with a record of 7 minutes 48 seconds 05 at the Men Mass Start in the 2024 ~ 2025 International Ice Skating Federation (ISU) World Cup 5th Men Mass Start held in Rodo and Arena in Polish Toma Suff and Jobby Tsuki on the 24th. Lee Seung -hoon, who scored 60 points of Sprint Point, beat Barp Holberf (the Netherlands, 7 minutes 48 seconds 50, 40 points of Sprint).
Lee Seung -hoon is a ‘legend’ in Korea, with two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal, from Vancouver to 2022 Beijing.
However, the World Cup gold medal is only seven years since the 2017-2018 Season 4th Mass Start held in Salt Lake City in December 2017.
Lee Seung -hoon’s record was outstanding. Lee Seung -hoon was quietly reserved in the fumi at the beginning of the race. Lee Seung -hoon, who stayed in the 16th place until he left four laces, left two wheels and speeded up to third place.
And he came out of the first curve, leaving Sasaki Showmu (Japan) and Lipio Wenger (Switzerland). In a straight line, he had an explosive spurt, the first passed through the finish line, and then grabbed his fist.
