18-year-old sister and 16-year-old brother arrested for allegedly recruiting underground part-time jobs on SNS; they may have been paid by their supervisors

On the 1st, Kumamoto Prefectural Police arrested a male high school student (16) in Kumamoto City and a restaurant on suspicion of violating the Employment Security Act (recruiting workers for the purpose of hazardous work) for recruiting fraudulent “dark part-timers” on social networking sites (SNS). A female employee (18) was arrested.

According to prefectural police, the two, who are brother and sister, acted as “recruiters” by directing applicants to another, highly anonymous communication app. Investigations are underway to determine that he received compensation from his supervisor.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of posting on social media around October 10th, saying, “High income in a short period of time, please contact me,” and soliciting people to withdraw cash.

A high school student in the prefecture who saw the post and applied for the job realized that the job was a secret part-time job and contacted the prefectural police.
