Palakkad ∙ With the approval of the Central Government for the Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, tenders will be called soon for the provision of infrastructure.
The Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, in which the central and state governments have equal participation, will take steps for this.
KINFRA is the enforcement agency in Kerala. Not only roads, electricity, clean water and sewerage facilities of international standards, but also better facilities for various industries will have to be provided. The government is targeting sectors such as food processing, light engineering, jewellery, plastics, recycling of e-waste and other solid waste, oil and gas fuels, electronics, IT, logistics and automotive products. They need adequate facilities.
By the time the construction is half-way through, the global tender process to invite industrial enterprises can be started.
1131 people’s land, cost Rs.1778 crores
Palakkad – 561.34 acres under Pudusherry Central Village, 413.46 acres in Central and West Villages and 300 acres in Kannambra have been acquired for industrial corridor. The acquisition of 250 acres in Pudusherry West Village will be completed by the end of this year. Steps have been taken to acquire 13 more acres in Kannambra. The rest of the land is to be acquired from Pudusherry Central Village.
1778 crore is spent to pay the land price. Out of 1131 people who were given land, 783 people were given 1350 crore rupees. State and Center will bear equal share for land acquisition. Now the center will allocate half of the amount that Kerala spends.
The state government says that it will ease the procedures along with giving permission to enterprises through a single window system. The state is awaiting approval for Kochi Gift City, which is part of the industrial corridor
