[Oriental Daily News, June 18]A total of 11 Chinese companies have been ranked among the 100 most valuable brands in the 2024 latest edition of the Kantar BrandZ Most Valuable Global Brands Ranking, an index compiled by Kantar, a global marketing company headquartered in the UK, based on consumer surveys and a comprehensive evaluation of companies’ finances and performance.
Ranking 10th in the world, Tencent is the most valuable brand among Chinese companies, followed by Kweichow Moutai Group in second place, tech giant Alibaba Group in third place, and video-sharing app Douyin/TikTok in fourth place.
Among the Chinese brands, the rankings were as follows: home appliance giant Haier in 5th place, mobile phone company China Mobile in 6th place, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) in 7th place, telecommunications equipment maker Huawei in 8th place, Ping An Insurance in 9th place, e-commerce site operator Pinduoduo in 10th place, and drinking water maker Nongfu Spring in 11th place.
Of the 11 Chinese brands, Tencent’s brand value was valued at $135.22 billion (approximately 21.3039 trillion yen), Kweichow Moutai’s at $85.57 billion (approximately 13.4816 trillion yen), Alibaba Group’s at $69.95 billion (approximately 11.206 trillion yen), and Douyin/TikTok at $60.4 billion (approximately 9.516 trillion yen).
The total value of the top 100 global brands has recovered 20 percent from last year to reach $8.3 trillion (approximately 1,307.665 trillion yen), highlighting the resilience of the world’s top brands this year. (c) Oriental Daily News / AFPBB News
